After a hiatus we are back. Today was an excellent sunny / hazy morning, good for attempting going a bit further this time. We went by bikes to reach farther in Gentbrugse Meersen. Not so much noise from the cars, as well as not so many people outside... perhaps everybody gets ready to the marathon.
One full bag (mixed garbage), - mostly filled up with plastics, hygienic paper wipes, cellophane packaging etc. Not so much of cigarette butts surprisingly.
Sometimes, plastic is already a part of the nature. Not nice.
Overall, it is a great outing, many people seemingly enjoy the weather. However, no-one (at least over 2-3 h time) really does cleaning and runs over / ignores the litter. We started along the river, went to the little 'forest' and got back through the children's playground. Interestingly, parents do not seem to care if their children play next to the dirty bottles, broken cans and other sort of garbage.
Back in the days, perhaps ~ 10 years ago, I've seen a few times short videos in the internet showing that some people in The Netherlands (or perhaps Belgium?) run and collect the garbage. Maybe such people really did exist, who knows, but now that feels like a 'sci-fi' or 'fake news'.
On the positive side, seen two-three butterflies, at least not a zero...
